The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has reaffirmed its support for the Marape-Rosso Government, committing to collaboration until the 2027 elections.


The party emphasizes the importance of stability amid ongoing political challenges, particularly ahead of the Vote of No Confidence scheduled for 15 April 2025.


Key Priorities:


1) Economic Development Fast-track investment decisions for major LNG projects.

  • Stabilize the Kina and enhance trade with key partners.

  • Amend laws related to money laundering and terrorism to align with PNG’s economic and social needs.


2) Governance & Institutional Integrity

  • Reform appointment processes to ensure merit-based selections.

  • Guarantee free and fair 2027 elections.


3) Infrastructure & Food Security

  • Launch rice and wheat substitution programs to reduce import reliance.


4) Security & Human Capital

  • Expand vocational training and establish a National Service Program.


5) Strategic Investments

  • Pause Phase 2 of Connect PNG to focus on national security, economic expansion, and import reduction.


The SDP argues that repeated Votes of No Confidence have disrupted progress since 2020, urging leaders to focus on governance rather than political survival.


The party has called for a meeting with PMJM to align on reforms and ensure accountability.
